Well, first off, Burgundy is a region, not necessarily one type of wine. There are white and red burgundys. In order of softness and fruit forwardness, I'd say that from softest to driest: Montepulciano - this wine has been called "fat, soft and pleasing " Merlot - not as tannic as Cabernet Cab - good ones are highly tannic, earthy and dry Chianti - Best ones are from Italy and are usually drier than sweet All in all, "sweet " and "red " don't really belong in the same sentence. What you might want to look for is very easy drinking wines that are soft on the pallet and very fruit forward. Here are a few that I suggest: Castle Rock - Pinot Noir Menage a Trois - Red Blend Kendall Jackson - Merlot Franciscan - Cabernet Bogle - Old Vines Zinfandel |

Depends on the wine i find both burgundy (french usually table wine) and chianti (italian table wine) are both very fruity and sweeter tasting because they don't have the high tannic of things like merlots. |

You will for sure find that burgundy, because it is a blend, will have more of a "sweeter " quality than any of your other listed wines. But, by no means are any of those wines sweet. If you are looking for a sweet or semi-sweet red wine, may i suggest going to Internetwines.com. They have a massive selection. Also, I found a blog site recently, through Internetwines.com, called WineChat.TV that is geared toward tackling these sorts of questions. |
