Question: Is giving a 2005 cabernet as a gift good?

Or should I get 2006? It's just regular wine. It's $20 but its from Napa. I don't know if 05 or 06?

That is a totally subjective question that depends on personal taste. Plus, you did not give details on what winery and the "level " of wine it is, i.e. is it common red wine or a more "reserve " version of the wine. In it's current state, your question is impossible to answer. Edit - you need to go to a wine shop and ask. That's what they are there for. The additional information you gave is like "well, it's a red car, is that good or not? " Sorry, but it's still subjective. If you can't even give the tiniest little detail about the winery or what the label says, how can you get a good answer?
