Question: How do i get a cork out of a wine bottle without a corkscrew?

I can't find my corkscrew. How do I get this cork out? The bottle is tall and narrow and has a long, skinny neck. I'm afraid I'm going to break it. So that no one will think they're helping an underage kid to drink, I'm 58. |

You don't! Except by pushing it in. Improvise, if I can do it YOU can do it! Cheers! . |

This will work: Take a shoe, such as a sneaker or something with a sole enough to surround the bottle securely. Now take the bottle and find a vertical surface that is quite strong (a concrete wall, such as a basement or stairs works best). Now, with the bottom of the bottle in the shoe and your hand on both the shoe and the bottle, slam the shoe against the vertical surface. The shoe will cushion the bottle and keep it from breaking. Repeat this firmly until you notice the cork start to ease out. Once the cork is halfway, try to pull it out with your hand. |

I say use a knife.. paper clip (of course unbend it) or tweezers. If all fails push it in.. |

You don't, and that's why corkscrews were invented. In theory, you can chip at it with a knife and break it into the wine itself. That would ruin the product however. |
