Question: I have 2 boxes of wine one white and the other red merlot, how long will they last once opened?

I have had these for over 2 months, I tried a sip of the red one, seemed okay to me. The brand name is Franzia. I also tried the white wine which is now refrigerated and that taste okay as well. Question is: Will it be okay to serve to guests? I am having lots of other beverages, but I was going to put the wine out to finally use it up but not sure if I should. The date on the box is Jan/ 2010 but I';m sure that is meant for a closed box. |

Wine in a box doesn't really go bad. It kind of starts out that way. |

Wine in a box should not go off like wine in a bottle. When you drink a bottle of wine air gets in the bottle this is what spoils the wine. The wine in a box is in a foil bag which empties of wine but does not fill with air, so will be o k. |

Box wines are air tight so the wine will last you a good long while. as long as the bag isn't punctured so that air can get in, you'll be fine with that for possibly another couple of months. |

Box wine, I'm thinking the typical box from Costco should last about a week once opened. Interesting side note is that a lot of the high end wineries in Napa use box wine to test their chemistry equipment before running tests on their own samples. There are some new "high end " box wines that are selling for about $10 and are actually pretty good(85points from Robert Parker in one instance) |

It's alcohol, so until someone drinks it... which should have happened by now, when can I come over and fix this? |
