What's the best wine for a honeymoon?

Question: What's the best wine for a honeymoon?

(Posted by: J9900 on 2010-03-09 11:18:43)

So my brother wants me to pick a wine for his honeymoon... neither have ever drank anything before as far as I know. Any suggestions? Is more expensive better? How much should I get? Should I get more than one kind? Thanks.

If they have never had wine before, then go with something on the sweeter side. Have you ever heard of Huber Winery? The winery is really close to where I live. Their strawberry wine is really, really good. And inexpensive. The only thing is when it comes to most wines, you really won't find anything over 13% alcohol by volume. So unless they drink the whole bottle, they won't get a buzz. This wine in particular is only 11%.

Has to be a Champagne or a least a sparkling wine. Also serve "honeymoon Salad " Lettuce alone.........Let us alone. Sorry about that.

They are going to have better things to do than drink. Don't go overboard. Get something light. I suppose that champagne would be traditional. BTW, Cynthia left out one non-ingredient from honeymoon salad. It's lettuce alone -- no dressing.

Mead its what "HoneyMoon is all about. But mead's real claim to fame is in its origins in wedding celebrations, hence the word "honeymoon. " Mead was traditionally drunk during the month-long celebrations following weddings to insure fertility and the birth of sons. Some customs sent the bride to bed and then filled the bridegroom with mead until he could no longer stand. He was then delivered to the bride's bedside to sire a son that very night. If, per chance, the bride did, in fact, bear a son nine months later, the maker of the mead was complimented on its quality.

Oh, no, NEVER whine on your honeymoon, uh, honey. It spoils the mood.
